The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) was always focused on the peaceful exploration of space, but make no mistake, the fire that lit JFK’s ambitious fuse had much to do with the United States and the Soviet Union being global adversaries, and attached to the Kennedy Space Center was Port Canaveral and Patrick Air Force Base, military installations, working on some of the most secret and sensitive projects.
