Jeff Beck was a guitarist with the Yardbirds in 1966 when the Motown Revue played London, England. The Motown musicians received a more than friendly welcome from the English, which was a pleasant surprise after the violence and hate they had endured in the American South.
Beck was especially taken by a teenaged Stevie Wonder, who at such a young age and being blind, commanded the audience’s complete and absolute attention. It was then that Beck had the idea to contact Wonder, and ask if there were a way that they could collaborate.
