The Past Is Now
APRIL 1, 2026 — Artemis 2 marked the first time in fifty years that NASA sent astronauts to the moon. Here (VIDEO), see the launch, landing, and spectacular photographs, including “Earthset,” the setting of the Earth on the Moon’s Horizon. An image reminiscent of “Earthrise,” the photoraph taken by Apollo 8 astronaut Bill Anders.
Vernon Reid’s 2025 solo album Hoodoo Telemetry features a diverse, shifting cast of collaborators, including bassist Jared Nickerson (Burnt Sugar), drummer Donald Sturge Anthony McKenzie II, bassist Steve Jenkins, turntablist DJ Logic, and vocalist Nironic.
Vernon Reid* — A portrait in 2025, for the release of Hoodoo Telemetry, Vernon Reid with his new, Reverend Totem series guitar, designed by Vernon and Reverend Guitars founder Joe Naylor. The series features graphics influenced by Carl Jung (Attentive Equations) and Joseph Campbell (The Power of Myth).
Why Can’t We Be Friends? — The satirical statue of Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, skipping hand-in-hand, is titled Best Friends Forever (sometimes referred to as Why Can’t We Be Friends?). Created by “The Secret Handshake,” an anonymous group of activists who installed the statue on the National Mall, September 2025.
Late Night Relevancy — After ABC took Jimmy Kimmel off the air, because he had made a joke about Donald Trump, the public outcry forced ABC to put Kimmel back on air. Thinking about his return, Kimmel called Vernon Reid, and asked if Living Colour would play “Cult of Personality” on one of his first-week-back shows he was doing at the BAM Gillman Opera House (Brooklyn Academy of Music) in Brooklyn, New York. The show on which Living Colour played included Bruce Springsteen and Jeremy Allen White who played Bruce in Deliver Me From Nowhere, the film that had just been released.
Playing Well Together — Guitarist Alex Skolnick invited friend Vernon Reid to join him onstage at the Cutting Room in New York City, to close the show played to release of his new album, I’m Not A Robot.
