1980 — While so many of the time’s guitarists moved toward Eddie Van Halen, there were as many Electric Jazz players who were moving toward the Outside and Contemporary storm. “Smoother the “smooth players who were more on the Electric Jazz track. Ray Gomez, (“Summer In The City”) was among them. . Swing, B-Bop, and the traditional was giving way to what was being called “Fusion.” Not Fusion Jazz, as Lenny White is quick to say. JACO (The Film)

Robert Trujillo (Metallica) — Armand co-produced, and played on the soundtrack of the documentary film about the life and musical times of Jaco Pastorius, the electric bassist and native Floridian, who changed the world’s understanding of the bass guitar, an instrument that until then had played a mostly supportive role. Jaco brought the bass guitar to the fore, and his time in Weather Report, took it to another level, into the harmonic stratosphere, and exploring the limits of outer musical space.
