Holy Trinity
Miles’ Disciples
Soon after recording Bitches Brew, the young, “electric” musicians who Miles had assembled for what he called his first Rock N Roll band, enthusiastically, and still with an experimental spirit set out to take the “cool” of Miles into the future of jazz.

Accepting that Miles Davis gets a God’s share of credit for having created the first “Fusion” record, Bitches Brew, there were others who were experimenting with Electric Jazz.

Larry Coryell
When the conversation of the electrification of Jazz, guitarist Larry Coryell (alongside Gábor Szabó) is considered a “Godfather of Fusion.” He was successfully fusing Jazz, Country, and Rock, as early as 1966. Coryell started in Chico Hamilton’s (mostly Straight-Ahead) Jazz quintet. Living in New York City though, a young guitarist couldn’t help but to be influenced by the psychedelic sounds heard in the Rock N Roll of the day. Jimi Hendrix, Cream, and Frank Zappa all impacted Coryell then, an throughout his 50-year, always evolutionary career. A pioneer and lifelong practitioner of what’s called “Electric Jazz.”
In that time, Coryell collaborated with a most elite cast of Fusion characters:
John McLaughlin,
Chick Corea,
Miroslav Vitouš,
Billy Cobham,
Lenny White,
Emily Remler,
Al Di Meola,
Paco de Lucía,
Steve Morse …
