Stoned Age is a twenty-years-after American Graffiti depiction of high school life in Southern California. While American Graffiti took us back to 1962, a time for “Rock Around the Clock” sock hops, and drive-in burgers. Stoned Age on the other hand, follows two Blue Oyster Cult stoners on their Saturday night cruise for tall cans of brew, weed, and hot chicks. One such chick is the subject of one of the film’s most memorable scenes. It’s our two protagonists meeting China Kantner (Paul Kantner, Jefferson Airplane bassist’s daughter), the hopefully available chick who lives across the street from “Fankie Avalon’s Old Place.”

Stoned Age is a dirtier, five-years-later American Graffiti made for those who graduated high school in the 1980s. The film follows two late ’70s stoners, spending an every Southern California Saturday night cruising and listening to Rock N Roll pop. Blue Oyster Cult topped their playlist, while looking for liquor, weed, and chicks. But it’s Ronnie Montrose who’s tune drives one of the film’s most memorable scenes. It’s their meeting China Kanter, across the street from “Fankie Avalon‘s Old Place,” where they hoped to find teenage stoner heaven at the party they’ve heard about.
