Scott Putesky
After creating Marilyn Manson with his high school mate Brian Warner, Scott Putesky (a.k.a.) Daisy Berkowitz learned an important lesson. No matter the sound of the deal, he shouldn’t have trusted SATAN, LUCIFER, BEELZEBUB, or whatever he called MARILYN.

“The Devil and Daisy” — Skot Olsen’s depiction of Scott Putesky (Daisy Berkowitz) and Brian Warner (Marilyn Manson).
Take It To The Stage — Putesky’s attraction to entertain came early. At ten years old, he took his magic seriously.
First Family — By the time (1992) of Marilyn Manson‘s premier Portrait of an American Family debut, Scott (then “Daisy) was far from pulling rabbits out of a top hat.
Playing Madison Square Garden, that’s something I can keep in my back pocket, and pull out in a bar any time I want. Not many people can say that.
Happier Days — In the beginning, Daisy Berkowitz was one of Marilyn Manson’s “Spooky Kids,” a band that cut it’s anti-social teeth at Washington Square, the all-black Rock N Roll club on the south end of Washington Avenue.
Killer Art — Skot Olsen was a member of the Fort Lauderdale underground that spawned Marilyn Manson. He is a painter with killer fans. Check out the little black oragami doll he’s holding. It was a gift from Charles Ng, who’s serving a life sentence in California where he and partner Leonard Lake (who committed suicide) were convicted of shooting and killing 11 people. Ng had seen Olsen’s work in Juxtapose, a magazine that features “Low Brow” art.
Here, Olsen is pictured with his interpretation of Popeye Pumphrey, a bootlegger and child rapist in the William Faulkner short story “Sanctuary.” Olsen was commissioned to paint the character for a woman who collects portraits of criminals. He previously painted Vlad the Impaler — “Big Bad Vlad” — for the same woman. All of Olsen’s pieces include his trademark “666” hidden somewhere in the picture. He also wears a “666” tattoo on the inside of his left wrist. “I’m not a Satanist,” he quickly explains. “I’m anti-Christian.” See more of his work at www.skotolsen.com.

White Wine Porn — Madonna’s “SEX,” famously photographed by Bruce Weber was released in 1992, just before Hurricane Andrew tore through Miami. Interesting was the scene in the popular Miami Beach book store on Lincoln Road. A local freelance photographer was signing his book of black and white photographs he had taken in the weeks following the storm. Getting much attention of the mostly “high-brow” crowd, was the stack of mylar-wrapped, Madonna “Sex” books, one opened, giving the chablis drinkers permission to consume an evening’s worth of public porn.
Shadow Artist — At the time (1992), few knew the name of the popular artist who painted the mysterious silhouettes around downtown Miami and Miami Beach, including the “Stickup” on Washington Avenue. Later, after being arrested, copycatted, and defaced, Vincent Luca came OUT OF THE SHADOWS.
Two blocks west of Hollywood’s favorite, Ocean Drive, Washington Avenue was home to a darker, harder, more realistic brand of Miami Beach entertainment. Washington Square, Marilyn Manson, Mario Bauza, Celia Cruz, and Tito Puente at the Stephen Talkhouse, The Neville Brothers, Spin Doctors, Saigon Kick, and JIMMY PAGE at the Cameo Theater. Al Di Meola at Macarena and Chris Blackwell’s Island Studios in the Art Deco-style Marlin Hotel on Collins Avenue, Mac’s Club Deuce on 14th Street … South Beach (South of Fifth Ave) Candy’s 30th (Ron) on the Century Hotel Patio, Laura Kelly, Mike Seemuth, Karen Rabino, Peter Rabino, Phish v. Bang!
((( 666 )))
(TOP) Not long after BANG! and his having replaced Joe Walsh in the James Gang, Tommy Bolin was asked to replace another of the most established Rock N Roll guitar players. Ritchie Blackmore had just left Deep Purple, and many thought the band, one of Rock’s Holy Trinity (with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath), would dissolve.
Most were pleased when Jon Lord and Ian Paice, Deep Purple’s founding members decided to continue. David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes agreed, and their search for a new guitarist led them to Tommy Bolin.
Who was Tommy Bolin? Deep Purple fans had no idea, but whoever it was, there was little hope that they could fill Blackmore’s shoes.
It turned out, that if anyone could, it looked like that person might be Bolin. Much more than so many other Rock N Roll guitar players …
It seemed, from the outside, that Bolin was living the Rock N Roll dream. A bonifide guitar God, playing lead in one of the World’s biggest Rock N Roll bands.
On the inside, though, Tommy’s life was far from idyllic. Might he have made a deal of his own, with the Devil?
