The Day the Earth Stood Still
9-11 — Living Colour was in the middle of its New Millennium Reunion Tour when two hi-jacked planes crashed into New York City’s Twin Towers.
2001 — Other than that Christmas Week (2000) at CBGB, it had been seven years since Vernon, Corey, Will, and Doug had played together as Living Colour. But after embarking on a 2001 REUNION TOUR, the band picked up where it left off, aggressively and virtuosically expressing its always pointed and viciously honest opinion.
June 26, 2015 — The day the United States Supreme decided that homosexuals had the right to marry. Also that day, Living Colour was playing at the Tupelo Music Hall (Derry, New Hampshire), and during sound check, Vernon suggested, and the band agreed, that “Bi,” a song about sexuality from the 1993 album, Stain, should be included in that night’s set.
December 28, 2001 — Just before Living Colour’s last show of it 2001 reunion tour, the band played Orlando’s House of Blues. “Release the Pressure” featured Doug Wimbish’s mastery of the electric bass guitar. One week later Living Colour would play its last 2001 show at CBGB. Back where it all began.
Release The Pressure was a tune the band had written for what would have been its fourth studio album, but the band split before the record was finished. “Release The Pressure” was released on Pride, a best-of Living Colour release in 1995.

HOPE & PRAYER — A homeless man walking along the Indian River (US1) just south of Melbourne, Florida. Thanksgiving day, 2012. (Did not want a ride.)
HAVANA DAY DREAMING — Bernard Fowler had been a Rolling Stone since the “Steel Wheels” tour in 1989, and had been around the world many times, playing stadiums and arenas in front of audiences numbering in the hundreds of thousands. The difference in 2016, as he stood before 500,000 Rolling Stones fans in Havana, Cuba, was that the half a million residents of the small Caribbean (Communist) Island Island had never seen such a thing. (HAVANA MOON: ROLLING STONES IN CUBA)
FUNKY OBAMA — Just after Barack Obama delivered his first Inaugural, I called to ask Keith LeBlanc if he was watching it. “Of course” he said, “Recording it too.” Two hours later, he sent me a file (MP3) of a James Brown tune (“Funky President”) he and his Tack>>Head bandmates were making as part of the new record they were working on. Two hours and Keith had already cut Barack Obama into the mix. (“NO SELL OUT, MALCOLM X”)

2008 — Bernard put the band (Tack>>Head) together in 2008 to do a tour through Austria and Germany, supporting Friends With Privileges, his 2006 solo album.
