(((VIDEO))) — Bill’s set on Rodney Dangerfield’s HBO Young Comedians special (1989), was largely responsible for Bill’s fast ascension in the world of stand up comedy. Tool frontman, Maynard James Keenan, was among those who appreciated Bill’s direct, aggressive, and viciously honest way. After the Dangerfield set, the video has Keenan on the Joe Rogan “Experience” (November 15, 2013) on which the two discuss stand up comedy in general, and their mutual respect, and in Rogan’s case, reverence for Bill. Keenan discussion about having Bill open for Tool on its 1994 tour, and Rogan recalls seeing Bill in a small Boston club (1989), and why he credits Bill and Sam Kinison* with inspiring him to pursue his own career in comedy…
AND SO JOE ROGAN DID. OR DID HE? DONALD TRUMP, A GRAND BALLROOM, AND VIOLENT, KNOCK-OUT CAGE MATCHES ON THE WHITE HOUSE FRONT LAWN. WHAT A HOOT. JOE ROGAN IS A DICK. ALWAYS WAS, AND ALWAYS WILL BE. NO MATTER HIS NET, FUCKING, INFLUENCER WORTH.
When talking about Bill, Rogan’s is obviously reverant, and he’s completely unaware that he’s showing those who knew Bill how staggeringly ignorant he is. So stupid is Rogan and his merry band of Bros, that they don’t know that Bill, their socially conscious idol, wouldn’t have wasted a shit on the MAGA likes of Joe Rogan, or any of his Trump-sucking fans.
After the interview, Tool plays “Eulogy” at a show in New Jersey (1998)
Tool — After Bill’s death, Tool frontman, Maynard James Keenan, honored Bill on the band’s AEnima album in 1996. “Another Dead Hero” is a painting (by Kevin Willis) on the record’s inside cover, depicts Maynard as a Third Eye-exposed patient on Doctor Hick’s examination table. Musically, two AEnima tunes were written for Bill. “Eulogy,” here, and “Third Eye,” the record’s closing track samples Bill’s voice from his Arizona Bay, his last audio recording.
