Fifty years had passed since NASA had launched astronauts off the Earth and into Outer Space. So anticipation, anxiety, and hopes were high, on April Fools 2026, the day Artemus 2 was scheduled to send the next generation to the Dark Side of the Moon.
In a time when there might be three launches in a week, Artemus is special. It’s a reminder that NASA still operates in a scientific world of fact, and it hasn’t been completely obliterated by the commercial greed of Blue Origin, SpaceX, and any number of Trump-sucking billionaire buddies who want space to be the platform from which they can shoot their shit at everyone’s iPhone.

Fifty five years after Neil Armstrong stepped onto the Moon, four NASA astronauts and their Orion/Artemis 2 rocket were launched from the 39B, and onto orbit the Moon, having travelled farther from Earth than any manned mission before.
