Dear Scott,
Homecoming is one of the finest events sponsored by the University of Florida. As you know, the University has more contact with its many thousands of friends and supporters during this time than any other during the year.
Several years ago, I became concerned about the lack of taste represented in some of the Gator Growl presentations, as they were an embarrassment to the University. At that time, steps were taken to assure that such occurrences would not be repeated.
Unfortunately, this week I have heard persistent rumors that the skits in Gator Growl may include statements and material that are in poor taste. If this is the case, I urge you to make immediate changes so that this event reflects positively on the University community. Homecoming is a University event, and Florida Blue Key conducts it at the request of the University. I assure you that this responsibility will be changed if Florida Blue Key cannot conduct the activities of Gator Growl in a manner that is appropriate to this University.
